I have drunken deep of joy, And I will taste no other wine tonight.
Percy Bysshe Shelley
Joy is the simplest form of gratitude.
Karl Barth
The healthiest response to life is joy.
Deepak Chopra
I have always felt a deep connection and love for hummingbirds. I celebrate their arrival every year with gratitude, not only for their amazing beauty, but for what they have taught me about joy. They taught me that the greatest joy in life was to be found in simply doing what we love, and that by doing so, we could also be of the greatest service to others. For these amazing creatures, in sipping the sweet nectar of life, actually perpetuate that which not only sustains them, but all of us as well.

What a great story Ana...thank you for sharing that! Yes, I believe, and even greater than that, I know, that we are all connected to Nature and to each other...for here in human bodies we are certainly a part of the natural systems. I have always been amazed by those systems and the intricacy and profound intelligence they reveal. Peace and love to you my friend!

Thank you Rory for this moment of watching your humming bird.Together with the words,it really does make me feel joyous, like "tingly" inside! Doing what we love! It sounds so beautiful, though sometimes I think I know what I love to do,but am not sure it brings me peace !It is something I have been pondering lately. But when I look at this, there's no need to think, just a moment of exquisite delight! v/f
Rory Siegel replied:
Thank you for your wonderful and honest thoughts Jane! That being in the "moment" is such an important thing to know and practice...because from my understanding, there really is no time...it's just what I call an "organizational device" for our human personalities. Everything really does exist in the "now" and from that everything comes. When we realize this and develop our ability to be present, it changes drastically how we perceive life and brings us many gifts. The hummers with their amazingly fast frequency, are a great reminder of this. I'd love to hear more about what you are saying in regards to your peace by private message.

Great shot, Rory!! I loved reading your comment below, as I spend hours and hours on our back patio doing the same thing you do!! And, I can completely relate to the work it takes to capture them as the zig, zag, and dive-bomb each other!!! f/v

Thank you so much my dear friend! I was late in getting the nectar out, but they came in full force this week once the word got out...guffaw! I am spending hours on the porch trying to get good photos while they dive bomb each other. Yesterday morning two of them were playing tag for hours and would zip within inches of my head as they flew by. They are so amazing...absolutely fearless for such small little beings! Hope yours come soon!
