Bruce Combs - REACH BEYOND
One of my favorites of many, Rory. I've looked at a lot of your paintings tonight -- what a lovely way to spend an evening! I hope I learned a bunch, too. What strikes me most, perhaps, about most all of your works here is the great amount (I mean quality, intense, deep, insightful, sensitive, and such) of thought. As probably a majority agree, HOW MANY TEARS, is my favorite. It fits so much about life, I think, and women's especially. Personally, I like to take it as a sensitive extension of Bob Dylan's BLOWIN IN THE WIND. Thank you for how marvelous you collection -- or most any one -- contributes to much needed beauty and thought on this earth. Peace, etc., Bruce
Rory Siegel replied:
Dear Bruce, Though appreciative of the gifts of silence, I am not one usually at a loss for words, but your message here has pretty much left me speechless. It touched something in me today that has been brewing since I joined FAA just over a month ago, but had not yet been fully aware of. I have always had a deep need and desire to create, and through that creation hopefully share my visions of beauty, joy, and even of sorrow, with others. To touch and connect with the heart and soul of another being or creature is for me a way of experiencing the Oneness that I believe we all truly are. To evoke an awareness of that in others is a privilege and a joy. I do believe that it is the key to the healing of our planet and our species. I have not had my work in public view for a long time and only finally jumped into the FAA experience after the second of two people in the last year, suggested it to me recently. Like many things in life, I am only discovering after the fact (and through the process), that there is much more to this spur of the moment leap than I realized. What I am endeavoring to express here, is gratitude to you, for taking the time to "see" and feel, the being behind the images....a unity of thought, intention and passion, that I am only starting to realize myself. It is clear to me that besides your obvious gifts of color, composition, and creative expression, your thoughtful words have and are, touching and inspiring many here on FAA as well as other areas of your life. Thank you for shining that light on me and my work and I look forward to exploring yours with greater leisure in the near future.
