Description
This pretty little girl was peeking through the dog door into her owner's home workshop while I was there watching him work...trying to fix an old antique clock of my mother's. She was so timid that it took close to an hour before she would even come in to catch my scent close range...despite my best "good girl" soothing doggy sweet talk. Though thankfully now with loving owners, it was clear that her previous experiences with human beings had not been good. I thought she was adorable, but her fearfulness was a sad reminder of the pain human beings can inflict on such normally loving and free-spirited creatures. For those that don't know, "head shy" refers to dogs that have been hit or beaten such that they pull their heads away in fear when someone tries to pet them. It takes a lot of time and love to rehabilitate these beautiful animals.
