You know that is the amazing thing...he always was...regardless of what was going on in my life. That was the most incredible love I had ever known until I met my mate. Thank you so much Chrisann for your kind words!

I think portraiture is your forte, Rory. You've captured the essence of love and kindness in his expression. You are lucky to have had such a father. Great image!
Rory Siegel replied:
Thank you so much Patricia! I agree with you about having been so fortunate as to have had this amazing man for my father! And if love of doing a thing is any indication, then I think you may be equally right (with all humility), about doing portraits. I do find a special joy in the process of working with people in that way.

Oh Rory, he is very handsome and one can see all the qualitiies you listed in his face. Beautiful tribute. I miss my Dad too as he died way to young at 58.
Rory Siegel replied:
Thank you for telling me Teresa! That must have been really difficult for your family...to lose him so early on. We had three deaths of members of my immediate family within 18 months...leaving us all pretty shell-shocked. I learned a lot however about death and grieving...that every time it is different and seems to have a lot to do with where our relationship was at with that person. My Dad's passing hit me the hardest for some reason...could not even let it register fully for some months afterwards, but finally was able to grieve and let go. I think it was partially because I admired him so much as an individual, but also because at that point in my life he was the only person I had ever known that truly loved me unconditionally. Thank you again for sharing about your father!

I am all chocked up Rory...fathers and daughters subject have that effect on me...what a lovely man - I just want to give him a hug! Oh, how I miss my dad....!!
Rory Siegel replied:
Oh Jolanta...I am so glad you commented! I cannot believe the emotion that has come up for me in doing this series! I am not one to dwell in the past, but just felt compelled to work with these photos I took of my loved ones. In many ways, these photos are what started me on the journey of becoming a photographer, and I still love doing portraits because it's seems like some kind of magic happens during the process...a connection that occurs that allows my subject's beautiful essence to shine through in the photos. It makes me so happy!
