Cat sitting = free models.....guffaw!

This is the second of my two new friends. She is missing her mom pretty badly...and finds me only a tolerable substitute as yet...a meager bringer of food, lol. I love her all the same and completely empathize with her feelings. I think we too easily underestimate the level of intelligence and attachment these creatures develop for their human companions. I tell her that her special human will be home soon....and try to win her over with some gentle brushing...and a little extra canned food. (shhhh...don't tell her mom!)

I've always been amazed by those I've heard say "all cats are pretty much alike"...or that they don't have much personality. Seems like it's always those that consider themselves only dog-lovers that I have heard make such pronouncements. I have to wonder in such cases about the perceptive filters that prevent people from seeing the beauty, individuality, and spirit which lies behind such elegant feline eyes. For myself I see the God in all creatures...and feel truly blessed in the vision. Perhaps there is some wisdom to be gained here by contemplating just how our bias with animals reflects on how we choose to see or not see the uniqueness of every human being as well? Cat, dog....male, female, black, white.....young, old....? Maybe the answer is to pray for the filters to fall away from our eyes and our hearts...and simply see with love and appreciation the uniqueness of all Life.
