VISITORS By Rory Sagner Appears On YelmCommunity.org

Yelm photographer Rory Sagner achieved national acclaim in the last quarter of 2012 with her photo selected out of many thousands in the Canon U.S.A.’s Project Imaginat10n photo contest.

Sagner told the Yelm Community Blog of the unique photo above:

"There's a great quote by Ansel Adams, noted American photographer and environmentalist:
'Sometimes I arrive just when God's ready to have someone click the shutter.'"

When Yelm resident Rory Sagner’s photograph “The Way Home” was selected as a winner in the “setting” category of Canon U.S.A.’s 2012 “Project Imaginat10n” photo contest, she was elated.

But that didn’t guarantee Sagner’s photo would be selected by one of the project’s celebrity filmmakers to be incorporated into a short film … until recently.

James Murphy, the former frontman of the band LCD Soundsystem, chose “The Way Home” as one of 10 photographs to inspire a short film he will direct.

Murphy is one of five celebrity directors. The others are Eva Longoria, Jamie Foxx, Biz Stone and Georgina Chapman.

Murphy’s film goes into production in 2013. Sagner has an invite to the Canon Project Imaginat10n Film...

Newspaper Interviews Rory Sagner

Newspaper Interviews Rory Sagner

It's just my local newspaper, but it was fun! They surprised me by putting it on the front page (and taking up nearly all of it plus more on another page), of the "Life" section in the actual physical newspaper. I think the reporter did a great job although he did omit the info on the panel of judges. Over all I think he expressed my feelings pretty well...and it's really fun to have friends and acquaintances in my area asking about the contest and sharing in the excitement!

The next announcement from Project Imagination is supposed to be November 5th, as to which photos will be used in the Director's films. There will be 5 more Directors announced at some point, so a total of 10 films will be made with a Film Festival Premiere next summer!

Here is the link to the article (online version):

I did warn the reporter that it was better to keep me on my usual side of a...

My Good News - Project Imagination Update

I am thrilled and honored to share with my Facebook friends and fellow artists some wonderful news! My photo "The Way Home" made it from being one of the judge's selected finalists to being one of the 10 winning images in the Setting Theme category. There were nearly 9000 entries in the Setting category alone...so I am pretty well overjoyed! It will now be one of the 10 in my theme considered for the Directors to make their films from....pretty exciting! There will be a Film Festival next summer to showcase the films inspired by our winning photos.

The winners were announced this morning in a Press Release on the Canon website here:

The winning images can all be seen here: https://www.longliveimagination.com/gallery

I want to thank ALL of you for your loving interest and support! And special thanks to Jolanta Anna Karolska who bent over backwards to help...
